Death of Elderly Eastland Man Now Ruled as a Murder

EASTLAND, TX -- The Eastland County Sheriff's Office has now ruled the suspicious death of an elderly man as a murder.

Burton Duane Sanborn, 78, was found dead at his home on Wednesday. Deputies were dispatched to his home in the 1300 block of Highway 112 for a welfare check, KTXS reports.

The preliminary autopsy revealed Sanborn suffered "severe trauma to the head," according to KTXS' report. That has led to the Eastland County Sheriff's Office to rule his death as a murder.

A person of interest has been identified by authorities and is being looked for.

Eastland has now had two murders this year.
