UPDATE: Police Identify Teen Who Died After Accidental Shooting

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The San Angelo Police Department have identified the man who died after mishandling a firearm. 

On June 16, the San Angelo Police Department was dispatched to the 2400 block of Junius St. for a shooting victim. 

When they arrived the found Nathaniel Lewis, 19, already dead due to a gunshot wound. According to a press release by the San Angelo Police Department, a preliminary autopsy report from the South Plains Forensic Pathology Center in Lubbock, Texas ruled that Lewis died as a result of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Lewis was a Lake View Graduate in 2017 and played for the Chief's football team. 

Police are still investigating the incident and more updates may come as more information is acquired.
