MENARD, TX – A 16-year-old girl died on Monday after the driver of the vehicle she was in ran from a DPS trooper and ended up flipping his car in Eden.
On June 3, a Menard County Sheriff's deputy was patrolling U.S. 83 one mile south of Menard when he saw a a four-passenger Honda vehicle approaching with a headlight out. The deputy activated his lights but the car did not pull over but instead accelerated. It was 1:35 a.m in the morning, the deputy reported.
The driver increased his speed to 60 mph near the pioneer cemetery and only continued to increase his speed. He continued driving and went over the San Saba bridge at 105 mph with no intent on slowing down.
The vehicle eventually ended up entering the city of Eden going more than 100 mph until it swerved into the opposite lane of traffic to avoid a collision. During the swerve, the vehicle flipped upside down causing the passengers serious injuries.
The driver was identified as 19-year-old Michael Teadt Jr. He was airlifted to Shannon Medical Center for injuries. Teadt's 16-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Teadt is charged with evading arrest causing death, a Second Degree Felony, and is booked into the Tom Green County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
---
Texas DPS conducted the crash investigation and as a result of that, made the arrest and booked Teadt into the Tom Green County Jail. The original story failed to mention the chase was initiated and finished by Menard County Sheriff's deputies, not DPS as we originally reported. The article is updated to reflect new facts that have come to light.

Oh and I'm sure there is somebody out there who will say he is a fine young man with a bright future ahead of him but was hollered at by his dad when he was little which caused him to grow into a misunderstood young man with mental deformities now and he just needs one more chance to prove himself to society............

PermalinkUnfortunately, (given the details) this little prick may not be facing more than vehicular manslaughter, and even then, a plea could lessen the conviction and penalties. It's sad that this young girl lost her life, but truly sickening that he'll more than likely be given the opportunity to walk free again someday.
