Dolcefino Weighs in on Developing CPS Case in Abilene

ABILENE, TX — Houston journalist Wayne Dolcefino said the arrest of an accused child predator shouldn't lead to children of the accused man's wife being taken from their home.

She isn't accused of any crime, Dolcefino said. Yet, CPS Officers seized three of Kim Baize’s children and have shipped them across the state to a strange foster home.

Her husband, 63-year-old Russell Alan Baize of Stamford, was arrested May 23 accused of Third Degree Felony Online Solicitation of a Minor and a Class B Misdemeanor Prostitution. According to the Abilene Police Department, through its ongoing investigation by its Cyber Crimes Unit, detectives learned of a young female Baize came into contact with and possibly other underage children he may have targeted.

"He was very active on social media, targeting underage children. He was also active in the livestock community showing pigs at shows around the area," police said in a press release. Police told KTXS that Baize contacted a teenage girl who he thought was 15 years old and agreed to meet her at a motel and pay for sex.

In a separate interview, a woman said to be Baize's daughter, Samantha Baize Creamer, called Baize "a monster."

She told KTXS she was not a victim of child sexual abuse at the hands of her biological father, Russell Baize; "however, her step-sister, Kandise Willingham, was." Creamer told KTXS that she and Willingham had been wanting to cry out for years, but Willingham felt threatened if she did.

Police are seeking leads to ascertain if other minors were victimized. Sergeant Jason Haak told KTXS that the police investigators have been "inundated with new information" surrounding Baize.

Meanwhile, as the investigation gets underway, "Kim Baize’s children and have shipped across the state to a strange foster home," said Dolcefino.

Russell Baize moved out of his wife’s house immediately after his arrest while he mounts a legal defense. His wife, Kim Baize, immediately agreed to the order to keep him out of the house, Dolcefino said.

Dolcefino said he knows the Baize family. "I'm not here to defend the actions Russell was accused of doing," Dolcefino said. Although skeptical of the police "sting," Dolcefino stressed that CPS's act of taking Kim Baize's children punished a wife who is innocent and not accused of any crime.

“There isn’t a scintilla of evidence that Russell Baize has been anything but a great father to those kids, but that’s not the point,” Dolcefino said. “Kim Baize isn’t accused of doing a thing but being a great mom. Why in the world would CPS take her kids away and traumatize them more than this unfortunate incident already has? She voluntarily agreed to do what they asked her to do. This is plain wrong. It is government arrogance.”

Dolcefino said he personally witnessed Russell Baize spend more than $200,000 helping his then-girlfriend Kim remove herself from what Dolcefino said was a previous abusive marriage years ago. "He fought for her and her kids," Dolcefino said. The couple met in the Houston area before moving to west Texas.

"CPS should not be allowed to destroy a family and spirit kids away from their mother who hasn’t done a thing wrong, except be married to someone who is accused of a crime she had nothing to do with," Dolcefino said.

“Last time I checked, people are innocent until proven guilty, and Kim Baize isn’t even accused of doing anything wrong,” said Dolcefino, now hired by the Baize family to conduct an investigation in Abilene.

Dolcefino is well-known in west Texas for his investigation of the Republic Services trash hauling and landfill contract in San Angelo. He is the former head of KTRK Channel 13's "13 undercover" before leaving broadcast television to found his own investigative journalism firm.
