Border Patrol Apprehends Record Number of African Nationals in Del Rio Sector

DEL RIO, TX – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Station apprehended a large group of 116 individuals Thursday, May 30.

Agents performing line watch operations apprehended the group after they illegally crossed the Rio Grande into the U.S. around 10:30 p.m.

This is the first large group apprehended in the Del Rio Sector and the first large group of people from Africa – including nationals from Angola, Cameroon and Congo - apprehended on the Southwest border this year.

Watch as Border Patrol agents monitor crossings on infrared cameras:

Agents have encountered 182 large groups of more than 100 individuals across the Southwest border so far this fiscal year.

“Large groups present a unique challenge for the men and women of the Del Rio Sector,” said Chief Raul Ortiz. “This large group from Africa further demonstrates the complexity and severity of the border security and humanitarian crisis at our Southwest border.”

On Tuesday, we reported that Border Patrol agents apprehended a group of 15 Congo nationals who had entered the U.S. illegally. Since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2019, which began Oct. 1, 2018, agents have apprehended more than 23,000 people from countries other than Mexico, who made their way into the United States illegally. This number is a 450 percent increase over Fiscal Year 2018 to date. https://sanangelolive.com/news/crim…

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, May 29, Border Patrol agents apprehended the largest group of illegal immigrants in history near El Paso. Agents took custody of 1,036 people after they illegally crossed the border in El Paso, Texas, shortly after 4 a.m., MDT, May 29.

The group crossed the Rio Grande and were immediately taken into custody by Border Patrol agents south of downtown El Paso, between Bridge of the Americas and Stanton Street Bridge.

“The apprehension of 1,036 individuals in a single group – the largest group ever encountered by Border Patrol agents – demonstrates the severity of the border security and humanitarian crisis at our Southwest border,” said CBP Deputy Commissioner Robert E. Perez. “The dedicated men and women of CBP, and in particular the U.S Border Patrol, are doing their very best every day to address the influx of family units and unaccompanied children.”

All members of the group apprehended in El Paso were from Guatemala, Honduras, or El Salvador. The group included 934 family members, 63 unaccompanied minors, and 39 single adults. They were taken into custody for processing and initial medical screenings. They will remain in U.S. Border Patrol custody until they are processed accordingly.

El Paso Sector agents have previously encountered the largest groups so far – of over 400 - on at least two recent occasions. The most recent was on Memorial Day, when agents apprehended a group of 430 people.

The group of 1,036, comprised mostly family units and unaccompanied children, adds to the more than 530,000 aliens apprehended or encountered at ports of entry on the Southwest border so far this fiscal year. The El Paso Sector continues to set record numbers as the situation escalates.

AFRICA REALLY? Does the entire world now believe it's perfectly acceptable by the democrats, the left(the resistance) and the bleeding hearts to sneak into our country ILLEGALLY through it's southern border???
Well, in a few years when your grandchildren or maybe even your children are suffering the consequences of what's happening right now, you can look back and smugly remember how emotional and good it made you feel at the time!

Ican not believe this crap that I am reading! We do not need or want these people here .We need to ship them all North! Build that Wall and Hurry!!! And do not tell me that they walked all the way from Africa either. This is sick!!!Maybe a lot of us need to go to Wally world and buy some white sheets and meet them at the border, everyone is scared of ghosts.

Advocating the resurgence of the KKK is just about the stupidest thing I've heard in decades, and I've heard some doozies.
White sheet wearers were nothing short of domestic terrorists, plain and simple.

Susan, I think that for most people who oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants one huge concern is that, among them, there are bound to be terrorists of varying stripes who see an easy opportunity to make their way into the country. The anger is understandable, but the KKK vs the cartels vs Daesh (or equivalent) is likely to be one bloody mess. Why so many refuse to acknowledge the imminent danger also presented by the latter two is unknown to me.

CAJUN JACK-I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE KKK. I said ghosts, but now that you mention it maybe we do need the KKK and other groups to protect Texas and I said other groups I am so tired of good people being shot at and robbed and what are they bringing in ? Drugs? Maybe something deadly .
Who knows ? But it needs to be stopped now. AND read your history on the KKK AND WHO STARTED THE MOVEMENT AND WHY ITS THE DEMO RATS!

EBOLA, There is an epidemic in Africa and some of these people are now in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, AND YOU WANT ME TO FEEL SORRY FOR THEM????WE will have this in Texas before too long and yes you will screen them and so on but you can also be a carrier of it and off it will go . NO, stop them at the border do not let them enter .
