Child Predator Arrested After Attempting to Meet a Child at Local Playground

 

ABILENE, TX — A man was arrested on Sunday after Cyber Crimes Unit catches him trying to meet with a child. 

On May 26, the Abilene Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit was called in to investigate 28-year-old Matthew Daunis after parents of a young girl told them that he was trying to meet with their child. 

Police say that Daunis was messaging her in a sexually explicit manner and arranged a meeting at Fort Imagination in Nelson Park. According to KTXS, after the Cyber Crimes Unit was called in to investigate, Matthew Daunis was arrested at Fort Imagination. Daunis is from May, Texas. He was armed and reportedly resisted arrest.

After the arrest police went to his house and seized multiple computers and his vehicle. 

Daunis is being held at the Taylor County Jail on a $10,000 bond. This investigation is still ongoing.
