SAN ANGELO, TX -- A man was arrested on Sunday for hitting his wife with a pistol after accusations of cheating.
On May 18, the San Angelo Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of S US HWY 400 for the report of an assault that had occurred.
When they arrived, they met with the victim and she told officers that her and 36-year-old Alexander Rivas were on their way home with their three kids driving down 87. The woman asked Rivas if he had been cheating on her with another woman which caused the initail argument. They then stopped at a store and while she was inside he read text messages from another man on her phone.
He then told the women to get out of the car and to never come home. She refused and the man grabbed a Taurus PT 740 .40 caliber pistol, loaded it, hit her in the head, and then pointed it at her head. This is when one of the children in the vehicle took the gun away from Rivas. The woman was able to get out, but the children had to stay in the vehicle before they could get home.
He was arrested the following day after Police spoke with RIvas and found the gun with the woman's hair still on it.
Rivas was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is currently in the Tom Green County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
