Reward Offered for Abilene Man Accused of Causing Fatal Crash on Meth, Touching Child

ABILENE, TX -- Abilene Police are looking for a man they say was high on meth when he caused a crash on Highway 227, killing a woman as well as inappropriately touching a young girl.

Marcus Torres, 31, was named one of Abilene Police's wanted criminals on Wednesday, according to KTXS.

Police say Torres was high on meth, traveling on Hwy 277 on Sept. 2, 2017, when he crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup truck head-on, killing Sarah Katherine Garcia, court documents allege. Tests on Torres came back positive for methamphetamine.

Torres' 10-year-old neighbor also accused him of touching her inappropriately.

The girl had fallen asleep at Torres' house in 2018. When she woke up, Torres was allegedly touching her underwear and told the girl not to tell anyone.

Torres is charged with manslaughter and indecency with a child.

Abilene Crime Stoppers is offering a $250 reward for information that leads to his arrest. Call 325-676-TIPS (8477).
