Three Arrested After Robbery Leads Police to Drug House
BROWNWOOD, TX – Three people were arrested Tuesday morning after one man tried to break into the other two's apartment to steal drugs.
On May 7 at around 12:30 a.m., the Brownwood Police Department responded to a fight that was occurring at a local apartment complex.
When police arrived, the fight was still in progress in the stairwell so the police jumped in and stopped the fight. Police say that Stephen Tackett and another unidentified man showed up to the apartment to rob the residents of the drugs they had inside. Once inside they used a shotgun to hit one of the people inside in the head. This is when the fight started and the police were called.
The robbery allegedly happened due to the residents of the apartment having a large amount of drugs inside. Police asked the residents of the apartment, Trevor King, 21, and McKinzie Smith, 22, if there were any drugs inside and they replied no. According to the Brownwood Bulletin, police asked the two if they could go inside and look but they refused the officers from searching.
Officers obtained a search warrant and came back to search the apartment. Once inside police found four ounces of marijuana and 25 grams of THC concentrate.
Tackett was booked into the Brown County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. King and Smith were booked into the Brown County Jail for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana more than four ounces but less than five pounds.
