Large Brawl Leaves One Man Dead and Two in Custody

 

ABILENE, TX – Two men were arrested on Sunday after one man was shot to death during a large fight.

On May 4, Abilene Police Department responded to a large fight that had occurred at around 9:15 p.m. When they arrived the fight had already ended and witnesses told them that Jacob Garcia, 36, had been shot during the brawl.

After Garcia was shot, someone took him in their personal car to the Hendrick Medical Center where he died due to his injuries. Witnesses at the scene told police that Zachary Morelos, 30, shot Garcia and then fled the scene in a silver Chevy Malibu with 30-year-old Anthony Valles.

Early the following morning around 12:30 a.m., the two were found traveling on I-20 near Ranger Hill in Eastland County. According to KTXS, the gun used in the shooting was recovered by detectives.

Morelos and Valles were transported back to Abilene and were booked into the Taylor County Jail. Morelos is charged with murder and has $1 million bond. Valles is charged with hindering apprehension/prosecution and has a $100,000 bond.
