SAN ANGELO, TX – A man has been arrested on Thursday after police trace back over $2,000 that he allegedly took after being fired from Phat Catz Gaming.
On January 18, the owner of popular gaming store Phat Catz Gaming called the San Angelo Police Department about a previous employee who may be stealing money from him. According to an affidavit, Steven Marlow, 35, was fired the day prior and the owner believed he accessed accounts through the app TCGPlayer, which is used by employees.
The officers looked at an explanation of the aggregate amount of expenditure and found that $2,445 were described as a lost sale. The owner also had to hire employees to correct the breach which cost him $3,480. The owner also gave police IP address logs that linked a residence in San Angelo,
On March 11, police met with the owner of the residence who they found out was Steven Marlow. The spoke with him and he admitted to accessing the account after being fired from Phat Catz Gaming.
Marlow was charged with computer security breach between $2,500 and $30,000. His bond was set at $2,500 and was released Thursday at 7:43 p.m.
