SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo woman accused of attempting to set a car on fire in 2015 has a jury trial date set by a District Judge.
Judge Brock Jones on Wednesday set Chelsea Jo Strube's jury trial date for June 17, 2019. The trial was postponed on May 21, 2018 and has been reset several times.
As we reported in 2015, Strube, now 36, was accused of intentionally and knowingly starting a fire by placing a white fabric into the gas tank along with a green plastic bottle containing a flammable liquid at a motor vehicle and igniting the flammable liquid with intent to damage and destroy a vehicle. The vehicle was parked near the Dead Horse bar in downtown San Angelo.

Investigators found a white canvas bag in Strube's red Mustang when they searched it at her residence with the words ‘big bag of crazy,’ and inside the bag in the back passenger seat were miscellaneous items,” stated the complaint.
These items included the following:
- two large bags of Duraflame kitchen matches;
- one small matchbook of matches;
- one plastic white and purple glove;
- one kitchen knife with a serrated blade;
- one kitchen paring knife;
- one pair of Kobalt wire cutters;
- one garden tool with a stainless steel blade and a blue and white handle;
- and one flat screwdriver with a black and red handle.
Investigators confiscated a phone, a tablet and a laptop during the initial investigation. As we reported in Dec. 2018 District Attorney Allison Palmer has agreed not to use information from those electronic devices as evidence in the jury trial.
Judge Jones set the final pre-trial hearing for Wednesday, May 29 at 9 a.m. The jury trial is set for Monday, June 17 also at 9 a.m.
