Robert Lee Mayor Arrested for Theft

ROBERT LEE, TX -- The mayor of the city of Robert Lee has been arrested on charges of theft.

According to an affidavit and arrest warrant from the Coke County Sheriff's Office, Allyson Leigh Crenshaw, 40, is accused of using a city credit card to steal between $750 and $2,500 from the city of Robert Lee.

A report in The Observer/Enterprise in Coke County, Crenshaw was accused of making purchases using the city credit card totaling $29,339.19.

As we reported earlier, Coke County Sheriff Wayne McCutchen investigated the alleged theft.

A letter from Mayor Pro Tem Roger Alexander to the Editor of The Observer/Enterprise was published in the Feb. 8, 2019, publication. It accused Mayor Allyson Crenshaw, PhD, of using $109,431.01 from the city for personal expenses. An anonymous source also accused Crenshaw of misappropriating city funds.

No suspects have officially been named by the Sheriff's Office.

"The new mayor was living off the city credit cards ... and is now being investigated for theft," the source accused, before adding they believed Crenshaw was selling items like the city safe.

At a City Council meeting on Feb. 4, The Observer/Enterprise reported that the council passed a motion to "restrict the mayor's access to City Hall."

This is a developing story.

The 2019 Rodeo articles are still up on this website!!! No one cared to read them over a month ago, and won’t now.

I'm just shocked that Hick-Ville Texas over there had $109 thousand dollars for anybody to steal but doesn't surprise me either since most of those over there are a few shovels short of having a full bag of sand............
