Probation Officer Recovering After Accidentally Shooting Herself

 

GEORGETOWN, TX -- A Central Texas probation officer is recovering from a gunshot wound after accidentally shooting herself while she was being trained to handle a weapon at a gun range. 

According to the McLennan County Probation Office, Brittany Bates has been a probation officer for 17 months.

 She was at the Department of Public Safety Tactical Training Center in Florence, TX being trained to carry a weapon for her job. 

The Waco Tribune Herald Reports Bates was holstering her handgun when it fired striking her in the buttock.  

She was transported to a hospital in Georgetown for treatment and was later released.  

The report says the bullet entered and exited her body.
