Former Angelo State University Basketball Coach Arrested on Sex Trafficking Charges

 

DALLAS, TX – A former Angelo State University women's basketball coach has been arrested on charges of promoting prostitution.

Josip Maric, 42, was arrested in Commerce, TX where he was the assistant boys basketball coach at Texas A&M Commerce.

According to reports, Maric along with four other suspects where directly responsible for the illicit massage businesses.

More than 15 women were found in a warehouse building that had mattresses laid on the floor.

They were transported on buses to safe space in Dallas. The three massage businesses Passion, Jasmine, and Blue Star Charming are all being sued by the city of Dallas.

Maric was an assistant at Angelo State from May 2014 until April 2015. WFAA reported Maric was fired from his coaching position at A&M-Commerce Wednesday in wake of these allegations.

Maric and the other four suspects have been charged with aggravated promotion of prostitution.
