Violent Habitual Drug Dealer Sentenced to Prison

SAN ANGELO, TX — District Judge Jay Weatherby sentenced a convicted drug dealer to 15 years in prison Wednesday after prosecutors and defense attorneys reached a plea agreement.

31-year-old Antonio Ojeda III was facing four felony counts including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and two felony drug possession charges.

Court documents show Ojeda was in possession of between four and 200 grams of methamphetamine, between one and four grams of cocaine and less than one gram of heroin on Aug. 5, 2018.  He also had a firearm which was illegal because he was a convicted felon.

Ojeda was convicted of possession of between one and four grams of synthetic marijuana in Feb. 2016.  The prior felony conviction enhanced the current felony charges.  During the plea hearing, evidence showed that the possession with intent to deliver meth charge was an enhanced first degree felony punishable by 15 to 99 years or life in prison.  The unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon was enhanced from a third degree felony to a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.

Judge Weatherby and attorneys carefully, methodically and professionally went over the details of the plea agreement and punishment ranges before the agreement was accepted.  Those minute details are what inmates talk about in prison when they discuss their cases.

The plea agreement offered by the District Attorneys office was for 15 years in prison and $540 restitution with credit for time served.  Ojeda was arrested and jailed Aug. 5, 2018 and was given credit through Wednesday.  The offer also abandoned the two possession charges and the deadly weapon finding.

Ojeda pleaded guilty to the first degree felony possession with intent to deliver charge and to the unlawful possession of a weapon charge in exchange for the 15 year sentence.  Judge Weatherby sentenced Ojeda to 15 years on each count.  The sentences will run concurrently.

Ojeda was already in custody and was returned to the Tom Green County jail to begin serving his sentence.

Instead of the media attention maybe yall should think of the lives you do effect like his family. We are all people some make different choices then others. He will do his time as he must but making him a monster in the papers doesnt need to be done. Mind your BUISNESS as we all should and think before you speak.

Without making any remark concerning the character of Mr. Ojeda, it is indeed the "business" of the taxpaying public, and therefore newsworthy. Our taxes paid for his defense if it was court appointed. Taxes covered the trial expenses, as well as his jail time before sentencing. And our money, again in the form of taxes, will pay for his state prison expenses, including food, medical, appeals, etc.
If his family is effected adversely, perhaps Mr. Ojeda should have "thought" before he acted.

Every so often, the friends and family of our native lowlifes will take to the comments section and pound out a barely intelligible attack on anyone who dare criticize habitual assholes, like this guy.

Call me crazy, but this clown doesn't come across as the type who worries much about tarnishing his reputation, or the reputation of his family. Carol, reporting the news IS San Angelo LIVE!'s business. I'm thankful for it, as the public has a right to know who's crapping up the city that a few of us actually value.

This character didn't give a second thought about his family, or the impact his deeds would have on them or anyone else. He made a conscious decision to dabble in the sale of highly addictive poison and toy around with firearms he KNEW he was not legally allowed to possess. Yet, you'd just as well relinquish him of all personal responsibility, than have these apparent inconvenient truths come to light.

Mr. Ojeda made a monster of himself, and while he's no longer a physical threat to the public, every tax payer has essentially adopted a 31 year old pain in the ass.

Thank you for your dumbass response that i dont care about no more than i care about your loser life style. Everyone has an opinion amd i voiced mine you wasted yours. No matter the false accusations the press has to say he will do his time and the taxpayers will pay for his stay as well as many more to come along. You dirt bags are probably just as much of a lie as the papers. Sit around and read about things you wont ever change. Just cause your poison is different and goes left secret makes you no better than the trash the news puts out. Youll get your day. Its you people that make the media even more filthy opening your dirty mouth about people and things you have no knowledge of understanding. Easy to call the game from the side lines but harder to be apart of real deal. Go back to your meaningless ungreatful life and piss on someone elses parade.
