SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo woman has been indicted in the month of February after allegedly trying to use an officer's taser against her.
On October 29, Ariana Elvena, 27, was driving a silver Hyundai northbound on S. Koenigheim. An officer with the San Angelo Police Department attempted to pull her over for speeding but Elvena decided to disregard the police and attempted to flee from them. During the chase, Elvena ran through two stops signs and ended up crashing into a tree. Elvena was then arrested and placed into the Tom Green County Jail.
While in jail two officers who were assigned to the booking area attempted to place Elvena into a suicide prevention dress. According to an affidavit, Elvena then began to show aggressive behavior toward the officers.
Elvena was instructed to walk into the female dress out cell, which she refused to do. The officers then attempted to physically escort her to the cell. Elvena started to become physically aggresive towards the officers, so one of the officers pulled out their taser. This is when Elvena grabbed the taser, which was in the officers hand and pulled the trigger and fired multiple times.
Elvena was indicted for evading arrest, and attempting to take a weapon away from an officer.
