Stolen Car Winds Up in a Creek After Police Chase

 

ABILENE, TX – A Tuscola man has been arrested after allegedly leading Abilene Police on a stolen car chase which led to the car going into a creek. 

Christian Angel Cortez, 22,allegedly stole a car at around 1:30 a.m. Abilene Police responded to the call to find Cortez driving the car. When Cortez saw police he immediately made a u-turn to let out a Hispanic female that was inside the vehicle.

Cortez then went a few blocks down to find a dead end blocked by a creek. Cortez drove the car into the creek. Cortez jumped out of the car and attempted to run from police. According to KTXS, Cortez was eventually tazed and detained. 

Cortez is charged with two counts of evading arrest and assault family violence. His bond was set at $155,500.
