SAN ANGELO, TX — A 12-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 27-year-old San Angelo man in Dec. 2017 may take the witness stand and testify against him.
Greg Dale Arredondo was in court Tuesday for a motion hearing prior to his jury trial which is scheduled for next week. Arredondo is charged with three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact which is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Arredondo has a prior felony conviction for possession of methamphetamine so the second degree felonies are enhanced to first degree which is punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Arredondo’s defense attorneys Chris Flores and Rae Leifeste filed a series of motions pertaining to evidence and witnesses.
Assistant District Attorney Meagan Wyatt told District Judge Ben Woodward that the victim, who was eleven years old at the time of the alleged event, will be available and would be called by prosecutors to testify against Arredondo.
Arredondo’s jury trial is set to begin Tuesday, Feb. 19 but Judge Woodward said there are already four jury trials set for the same day so this trial could be postponed.
