Troubled Attorney Arrested And Jailed For 30 Days

BROWNWOOD, TX-- A Brownwood attorney has been arrested on multiple charges on Friday, and is ordered to stay in jail for 30 days.

Bill Ruth was charged with assault on a public servant, resisting arrest, evading arrest, and contempt of court.

The contempt of court was filed on December 17 after Ruth had represented Memorial Park Medical Center Inc. in a case against John Green.

Ruth had a long-term problem with the 35th District Court Judge Stephen Ellis. He had expressed his opinions on Facebook about, what he thought, to be corruption in the Brown County courthouse. According to KTXS, Ruth had sent them a dozen emails claiming that he was being singled out by the judge.

Ruth was indicted in 2012 after he had filed a lawsuit for his elderly grandmother in order to profit off it, but the charges were later dismissed.

Ruth's bond was set at $8,000.
