Hitch Hiker Sexually Assaulted While Being Held At Gunpoint

ODESSA, TX-- A woman was sexually assaulted after trying to get a ride to work on New Years Eve.

Steven Harris, 30, had agreed to give the woman a ride to her job, but instead took her to an Odessa truck stop. He then pulled out a gun and forced her to take off her clothes.

He then continued to force her to perform sexual acts against her will. After he finished he gave her a wet wipe and told her to go clean up inside.

When she went inside, she reported what had happened to the clerk who immediately called the police. At that time Harris left the truck stop.

According to OAOA, a DPS trooper later found the truck and took Harris into the Police Department to give his side of the story.

Harris reportedly said the sexual activity between himself and the woman was consensual. The gun used in the incident was located in the vehicle.

Harris was charged with aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony, and had one bond totaling $150,000 and he posted bail the same day.
