Man Tried Running Down Police with Work Truck

SAN ANGELO, TX-- A San Angelo man tried to run down police officers in his work truck after they tried to conduct a narcotics investigation on Wednesday at around 9 p.m.

The San Angelo Police Department and the Street Crimes Division teamed up in the Lowe's Grocery parking lot at 1926 N Bryant.

They found a mysterious white 2017 Ford F-350 Dually in the parking lot, so they turned on their lights and attempted to box in the vehicle.

The officers demanded the man step out of the vehicle, but he decided that he did not want to do that.

Jose Torres, 52, put his truck in reverse and got inches away from a detective on scene. This placed imminent fear and danger of serious bodily injury to the detective.

Torres fled the scene and was later captured 40 minutes later in the 1800 block of Sherwood Way.

He was charged with aggravated assault on a public servant and evading arrest using a vehicle.

Torres was jailed in lieu of a $160,000 bond.
