Police K-9 Finds 69 Lbs of Pot During Traffic Stop

ANSON, TX-- An unidentified man was pulled over in Anson Sunday for going 42 mph in a 35 mph zone, but that wasn't his only violation.

The officer had pulled the driver over at around 1:30 p.m when he smelled a strong odor of marijuana. A K-9 was brought out and did a open-air sniff. This is when the dog alerted to some kind of illegal narcotics in the vehicle.

The officer then proceeded to search the vehicle, but nothing was found. The vehicle was then transported to a different location where officials found 60 wrapped packages filled with nearly 69 lbs of marijuana.

The street value is over $120,000.

The driver was on probation for a previous incident where he was caught carrying over 100 lbs of marijuana.

The driver, who has not been identified, was charged with felony Delivery of Marijuana and was also cited for driving with no license and no insurance.
