Odessa Police Office Involved in Shooting

ODESSA, TX -- (PRESS RELEASE)

On October 28, 2018 at approximately 10:38 p.m., an Odessa Police Department officer, working an off-duty assignment at Halftime Lounge, 2120 Andrews Hwy, heard a vehicle crash on the property and responded to investigate.  As the officer approached the active vehicle, the operator intentionally drove towards the officer in an attempt to run him over.  The officer fired his duty weapon towards the vehicle in response to this threat.  The vehicle was a white 2013 Ram 3500 4X4 pickup.  The pickup fled south on Andrews Hwy and was involved in a single vehicle crash a few blocks away.  Both occupants ran from the vehicle, but were later apprehended by responding officers.  There were no injuries from the officer firing his weapon.  The officer involved was not injured and has been placed on restricted duty.

As with all officer-involved shootings, the Odessa Police Department has requested the Texas Rangers office to investigate.
