SAN ANGELO, TX — Just after 12:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, San Angelo Police were dispatched to a residence in the 2800 block of Waco Street for the report of a residential burglary.
According to a press release, during the investigation, Police learned that the victim’s gray 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup had been stolen. In addition, the victim’s Toyota Avalon had been burglarized and the perpetrators stole jewelry, a purse, money and the vehicle’s key fob.
Less than one hour into the call, San Angelo Police Officer J. Mata conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near W. Avenue J and S. Fillmore. The driver, 24-year-old Ruben Espinola was subsequently arrested for not having a valid driver license. The passenger, 29-year-old Miguel A. Lopez, was arrested for Fail to Identify Giving False Fictitious Information and fourteen warrants.
During an inventory of the vehicle, officers located jewelry, a purse filled with money, and a key fob to a Toyota. Officers soon realized the items were connected to the burglary on Waco.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Investigations responded to both scenes for follow up investigation. The stolen truck was eventually located in an alley near the 2200 block of Carlton Way.
Subsequent to the lengthy field investigation, Lopez was additionally charged with Burglary of Habitation.
Additional charges may be pending the outcome of this investigation, which is ongoing.
