Sheriff Arrests Man Accused of Videoing Himself Conducting Lewd Acts with Minor Girl

SAN ANGELO, TX --  A Tom Green County man was arrested late Wednesday on two counts of sexual assault of a child and remains jailed without bond.

Douglas Groover, 35, was arrested after a female child under the age of 17 accused him of several incidents of sexual assault.  Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies in the Criminal Investigation Division made the arrest.

According to an affidavit from Justice of the Peace Susan Werner, the victim stated she had been sexually assaulted for several years by Groover.  During a forensic interview, the victim stated Groover forced her to have oral and anal sex.

The detailed affidavit states Goover admitted that he had child pornography in his possession.  He filmed himself having sex with the victim. Groover later showed the victim the images.

Groover allegedly made the victim wear costumes and outfits while he videoed her.  

District Judge Jay Weatherby issued a search warrant of Groover’s residence on August 29.  The warrant was executed by law enforcement officials from the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.  

The affidavit says Groover waived his miranda rights and agreed to speak with officers at the Texas Department of Public Safety Office in San Angelo.  

During the interview, Groover admitted to sexually assaulting the victim. Groover admitted he was in possession of 20,000 files of child pornography and over 400 images of self-produced child pornography involving the victim.  

Officers searched the residence and found a camera, several SD cards and costumes the victim stated she wore.

Groover was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child.  He remains without bond in the Tom Green County jail. Additional charges may be filed.
