Abilene Shooting Victim in Stable Condition; Suspect 'Figured' Gun Was Stolen

ABILENE, TX-- KTXS News reports the victim of the second shooting in Abilene on Saturday is in stable condition.

Family of Louis Barrientes, 18, told the Abilene news station that Barrientes is facing three months of rehab, but he’ll be ok.

Barrientes answered his door on Saturday, only to shut it on Ethan Caballero, 17, before being shot. His family says the bullet went through his abdomen and pelvis, but missed any major organs.

Barrientes was flown to a Lubbock hospital.

Caballero allegedly drove to Barrientes’ home on College Drive to confront him about a relationship with his girlfriend.

Caballero was arrested on three separate charges of aggravated assault, theft of a firearm and possession of marijuana in addition to two warrants.

Caballero told police he “figured” the gun was stolen when he purchased it, according to an arrest report obtained by KTXS.
