Indictment Claims Abilene Man Robbed Two Convenience Stores on his Birthday

ABILENE, TX-- KTXS reports that an Abilene man has been indicted and accused of robbing two convenience stores on his birthday for $104.

Otis Lamonte McKnight, 40, of Abilene, was indicted by a Taylor County grand jury on two counts of armed robbery.

McKnight allegedly robbed an Allsups on May 4 and a 7-Eleven in the early morning hours of May 5, according to court documents.

At the Allsups, McKnight was given $22 because the cashier thought he had a gun.

At the 7-Eleven, he was given $82 after holding his hand in his jacket and threatened to shoot the clerk if he didn't get any money.

Around 12:15 a.m., police say they spotted a gold van near another Allsups. During the stop, police determined the driver to be their suspect McKnight and apprehended him.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found clothes that McKnight was allegedly wearing during the robberies. Officers also found marijuana and $113.

McKnight is still in jail on a $76,000 bond.
