Man Suspected of Killing His Girlfriend Threatened to Shoot Officers and is Shot and Killed

 

MIDLAND,TX -- A 41-year-old man wanted for killing his ex-girlfriend pointed a gun at police officers Thursday who then shot and killed him.  

According to reports, Oscar Gurrola was wanted by Midland Police in the death of his ex-girlfriend.  

Shortly after midnight, according to an MPD report, officers responded to a shots fired call in the 2900 block of Mariana Avenue.

Officers arrived on the scene to find Katrina Luna, 36, suffering from gunshot wounds. Luna was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Gurrola is believed to be Luna’s ex-boyfriend.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Midland Police Department Officers located Gurrola outside of the city limits near the area of South County Road 1030 and East County Road 160.

Officers attempted to arrest him on the murder warrant. At that time, Gurrola displayed and raised a weapon and Officers fired upon him.

Officers present then attempted to render first aid. Upon arrival of EMS, Gurrola was determined to be deceased.

Texas Rangers and Midland Police are investigating the shooting.  The officers involved have been place on administrative leave.
