San Angelo Police Nab Wanted Felon with Meth, Stolen Vehicle, Rifle

SAN ANGELO, TX -- (Press Release) A 30-year-old San Angelo man driving a stolen vehicle was arrested on multiple charges last night thanks to a keen-eyed Patrolman.

Just before 11:00 p.m., San Angelo Police began investigating an aggravated robbery where the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Miguel Angel Fernandez, Jr., stole a white Nissan passenger car from a male acquaintance at gun point.

Shortly after receiving information about the incident, an Officer Patrolling near Ben Ficklin and S. Bryant observed the stolen vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed before it pulled into the Executive Inn Motel, 4205 S. Bryant Blvd.

Upon further investigation, Officers located Fernandez in the driver’s seat. Additional Officers arrived and attempted to take Fernandez into custody without incident; however, Fernandez disobeyed their commands by refusing to exit the vehicle and by reaching into his pockets. He was eventually taken into custody after a lengthy struggle.

During a search of the recovered-stolen vehicle, Officers located open containers of alcohol, a rifle, and a baggy that contained over ten (10) grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Fernandez was ultimately charged with Aggravated Robbery, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Resist Arrest Search or Transport, First Degree Felony Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, and outstanding warrants for GOB Evading Arrest Detention, Unlawful Possession Firearm by Felon, Possession Controlled Substance PG1, and GOB Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle.
