Woman Arrested After Abandoning Child and Stabbing Husband in Face

 

ODESSA, TX — (Press Release) Odessa Police arrested Tabitha Irene Spencer, 28, on Aug. 3 at approximately 0111 hours for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence) “1st Degree Felony” and Abandoning or Endangering a Child “State Jail Felony”. Officers responded to the 9200 block of Cabrito Drive in reference to a stab victim. Dispatch advised that the caller had stabbed her husband.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 34-year-old male subject and his wife, identified as Spencer. Officers observed the 34-year-old male to have a stab wound on his face and further observed a kitchen knife on the bed next to him. Spencer stated to officers that she had stabbed her husband.

The 34-year-old male was transported to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury. Further investigation revealed that Spencer and her husband had left their 8-year-old daughter at their residence without adult supervision while they went to a bar to consume alcoholic beverages.

Spencer was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Child Protective Services was notified of the incident and took custody of the 8-year-old child. More charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
