Alleged Murderer Caught After Running Out of Gas

 

EASTLAND, TX — A Hamlin, TX man who was wanted for the murder of a Hamlin woman was arrested late Saturday night in Eastland County after he ran out of gas.  

According to KTXSMitchel Glen Butler, 39, was booked at 11:00 p.m. into the Eastland County jail after he ran out of gas on I-20.

A state trooper had pulled over to ask Butler if he was okay but the officer recognized Butler and his vehicle from the description release by Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

Butler is accused of killing Alice “Sissy” Brigham, 66, after beating her in her home on County Road 130.

Sissy’s father came home around 2:00 p.m. to find his daughter on the floor, beaten. Sissy told her father that Butler had beat her.

She succumbed to her injuries at the Hamlin Memorial Hospital.

Brigham’s funeral is Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Central Baptist Church in Hamlin.
