Speedway Murder Suspect Changes Plea and is Sentenced to 38 Years

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Robert Lamar Miller pleaded not guilty to murder during his final pretrial hearing last week.  Monday, Miller changed his plea to guilty in exchange for a 38 year prison sentence.

Prosecutors had offered Miller a plea deal that was to expire today.  According to his attorney Brian Raymond, Miller accepted the plea deal which also includes the stipulation that he cannot appeal the case or request a new trial.

Miller was accused of murdering his wife and burying her body at the former San Angelo Speedway location on FM 2105 in 2017.

As we reported earlier, Miller and his wife were living in Grape Creek and Ludonna Yoder was living with them.

Miller and Yoder allegedly conspired to murder Miller’s wife, Michelle according to an affidavit containing a confession Yoder gave to authorities.  According to the affidavit, Miller violently grabbed Michelle and pinned her down on a bed, holding her arms down as well. LuDonna told Fiveash that she placed the pillow over Michelle’s face and the plan was for her to suffocate Michelle. However, LuDonna told Fiveash that instead, she removed the pillow from Michelle’s face but left the pillow within reach of Robert.

LuDonna told the detective, “Robert Lamar Miller II then grabbed the pillow, lunged on top of Naomi Michelle Miller, 'and suffocated Naomi Michelle Miller until Naomi Michelle Miller ceased to move."

Miller and Yoder then hid the body under the house in Grape Creek.  A year later, according to the affidavit, Yoder helped Miller move the body to the former San Angelo Speedway property.  Authorities recovered Michelle’s remains there in March 2017.

According to court documents, Yoder has a plea hearing scheduled Monday as well.

The death penalty would have been a better punishment for killing your wife and the mother of your children. But, I must say you did the right thing in changing your plea to guilty because it is what it is...you are guilty so thanks for saving the citizens of Tom Green County tax dollars that can be used on other things to make our lives a little better, and thanks for sending yourself to the state penitentiary for long enough to grow old. Too bad it is for long enough to rot there. Hopefully you will spend every day there in remorse for what you did but for some reason I don't think there's much chance for that. Adios Robert. I hope you are proud of yourself.
