SAN ANGELO, TX — Leroy Arredondo Jr., 31, was arrested on Saturday around 11:00 p.m. for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
According to court documents, “on or about the 1st day of Nov 2013, and before the making of the complaint in Tom Green County, TX, did then and there intentionally and knowingly cause the female sexual organ of (the victim), a child then and there younger than 14 years of age to be penetrated by the fingers of the said defendant.”
The complaint stated that the San Angelo Police Department Criminal Investigation Division spoke to the victim and her mother over the phone after a report was filed with the San Antonio Police Department. The victim and her family had moved to San Antonio in Nov 2013.
The victim told the investigating officer that Arredondo was babysitting her at her residence the day before her family moved to San Antonio. The victim was sitting on her mother’s bed when the defendant came into the room and sat next to her.
The defendant began rubbing his hands all over the victim and then put his hands down the victim’s pants and committed the crime, court documents reveal.
According to the complaint, the victim also stated that at a prior date, Arredondo sat on the bed she was sitting on and he pushed her down and put his hand and fingers down the girl's pants.
Prior to moving to San Antonio, the victim and her family lived in San Angelo and the defendant lived with the family.
While investigators interviewed Leroy Arredondo, he admitted to living with the victim and her family. He admitted to babysitting the young girl. The defendant also admitted, during one babysitting session, he sat next to the victim and assault her.
According to the law, aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first degree felony punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison with up to a $10,000 fine.
Leroy Arredondo was arrested and booked in Tom Green County jail in lieu of a $35,000 bond.
