Man Charged with Sexual Assault of a Child after Drunken Foray at Lake Nasworthy

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A 34-year-old San Angelo man remains behind bars Tuesday after being arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child following an outing at Lake Nasworthy.

According to an affidavit from the Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 office, Brandon Bennett is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl after providing her with alcohol and cocaine during a trip to Lake Nasworthy on June 1.

The affidavit states that Bennett took his three daughters and two other girls to the lake and bought them drinks.  He then drove them to his house where he fed his daughters and put them to bed.

Bennett then provided the two 15 year old girls with vodka and cocaine.  One of the girls said she passed out then awoke to find Bennett having sexual intercourse with her.

Bennett was interviewed by police and admitted to the details of the assault but said he thought the girl was 18.

Bennett was arrested and remains jailed in lieu of $35,000 bond.
