Missing Elderly Abilene Woman’s Body Found

ABILENE, TX -- An elderly Abilene woman missing for a week has been found dead according to Abilene Police.

According to a press release, 77-year-old Elizabeth “Betty” Stover was reported missing by family members on May 21.  KTXS broke the news that a rancher found her body near her car about 40 miles south of Abilene near Tuscola.

The Department of Public Safety had issued a Silver Alert for Stover because she suffered from dementia.  A Silver Alert is only issued when someone who is 65 years of age or older, with a diagnosed mental condition goes missing and the disappearance poses "a credible threat to (their) health and safety."

According to KTXS, no foul play is suspected and her body has been sent to Tarrant County for an autopsy.
