RUNNELS COUNTY, TX — (RCSO Press Release) In April, the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office began an internal investigation involving suspected contraband making its way into the Runnels County Jail.
On May 8, three individuals were arrested on warrants issued out of Runnels County Justice of the Peace Court Precinct 1. The three were charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, a 2nd Degree Felony; and prohibited substances and items in a correctional facility, a 3rd Degree Felony. Bonds for each individual are set for about $80,000.
The individuals arrested:
Trevor Anthony Marcilliotte, 29, was the Runnels County Jailer from Oct. 15, 2015 until April 25, 2018, when he quit without notice.
Bradley Wayne Horton, 29, is a current inmate at the Runnels County Jail. Horton was being held on a parole warrant for burglary of a habitation.
Rebecca Michelle Menelly, 42, is the fiancé of Horton.
The investigation is still ongoing and others may be charged at a later date.
“An incident of this nature is an embarrassment, not only to myself, as the Runnels County Sheriff, but all of the good, hardworking, dedicated Jailers, Dispatchers and Deputies with the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office. We understand that an incident of this nature tarnishes the image of all in law enforcement.
"I want to insure each citizen of Runnels County that this behavior will not be tolerated by the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office and all involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” stated Runnels County Sheriff, Carl Squyres.
