SAN ANGELO, TX — Coty Lynn Veach, aka Coty Scott Jackson, 40, had a jury trial set to commence on March 19 but she failed to appear. The jury trial was canceled and is set to be rescheduled. This isn’t the first time Ms. Veach has skipped bail.
Where is Coty Lynn Veach? Does that name sound familiar?
Coty Veach was arrested for bigamy in Tom Green County in 2016. Back then, court documents say she was still legally married to Floyd Jackson when she decided to marry Jason Veach in Jan. 2016, before the divorce was finalized.
Veach filed for divorce with the Tom Green County Clerk on Jan. 6, 2016, but five days after she filled out the marriage license application to marry the other guy.
Coty failed to show for her first court date regarding the bigamy charge in June 2017. Prior to that date, she was released on a bond of $15,000 from the initial arrest, but failure to show up for court is how you get your bonds forfeited.
Coty was found and arrested, but had to be extradited from Portsmouth, Ohio in Oct. 2017. She was released again on a bond but this one was $30,000.
Again, Coty did not show up for her scheduled court date, forfeiting that bond.
According to Texas Penal Code, bigamy is a third-degree felony that is punishable by up to five years in prison and can sometimes be accompanied by a hefty fine. The new “spouse” of the bigamist can sometimes be fined if they knew the person was already married.
There is a warrant out for the arrest of Coty Lynn Veach and tips leading to her arrest can land you with some cash. There is a $500 reward for information on the whereabouts of Mrs. Veach.
Veach isn’t the only Tom Green County bail jumper. Here are some other opportunities to earn some reward money.
