Justice of the Peace Arrives at Scene of Shooting

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire arrived at the scene of a reported shooting in San Angelo just after 2 p.m. Police said they are investigating a shooting in the 200 block of S. Fillmore St. from a call that came in at 12:23 p.m. Monday.

Justices of the peace are usually called to crime and crash scenes to pronounce a person dead.

San Angelo EMS was called to the scene when the incident was first reported, purportedly for a shooting victim, according to radio calls. The ambulance departed the scene empty about an hour later

We observed one male suspect in handcuffs being escorted away by police.

San Angelo Police Department Spokeswoman Tracy Gonzalez confirmed that the location is now a crime scene. Around the entire perimeter of the four-plex apartment building is police tape. Multiple detectives were observed working around the scene.

Gonzalez said that more information will be released later Monday afternoon.

She did not confirm if a suspect was in custody.

Update 3:05 p.m.

Justice of the Peace JP McGuire confirmed one male was pronounced dead inside the apartment. We observed him working in the lower right apartment of the four-plex in the 200 block of S. Fillmore St. When asked how old, McGuire only told us, “Not too young, but young.”

McGuire said he will give no more statements as this dead person is part of a larger San Angelo Police Department investigation.
