ODESSA, TX — Just after midnight on Sunday, two suspects were arrested following a chase that reached speeds as high as 100 miles per hour.
Steven Saenz, age 26, has been arrested and charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Methamphetamine, and two counts of Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer.
Sueellen Montoya, age 17, has been arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance.
According to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy tried to stop the car from speeding in the area of E. 57th St. and N. Dixie Blvd. near Sherwood Park.
Authorities said that the driver began evading arrest by driving at speeds over 100 miles per hour and running stop signs. The driver crossed into oncoming traffic and ran vehicles off the road.
The vehicle hit two patrol units during the pursuit, which broke the hand of an officer.
The car’s tires were shot out near West Loop 338 and Wireline Rd. and that is where the chase ended. The suspects were identified as Saenz and Montoya and they were taken into custody, according to CBS7.
Deputy Cody Smith who was injured during the chase was treated at a local hospital and released.
