LAREDO, TX-- A Laredo man died just before 2 a.m. Tuesday morning after a hunting rifle accidently fired, hitting him in the face.
Jose Eduardo "Lalo" Salinas Jr., 22, was identified as the victim by Laredo police, according to the Laredo Morning Times.
David Romeo Garza Jr., 21, told the police he was the one holding the rifle when it fired and hit Salinas, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police arrested and charged Garza with manslaughter. Garza was released from the Webb County Jail on bond Wednesday.
Salinas was a soccer coach for the Laredo Heat Soccer Club.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Salinas Family during this most difficult time," the club said in a statement. :We were honored and blessed to have been part of Lalo’s life, both on and off the field.”
There will be visitation for Salinas from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Joe Jackson North Funeral and Cremation Services and a mass will take place Friday starting at noon at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church. A cremation service will be held at a later date.

Sorry guys but rifles do not go off by themselves. If you are holding a rifle and it goes off it is because you pulled the trigger. He may have accidentally pulled the trigger, but the gun didn't do it by itself.
