Midland Lee Student in Custody After Bringing Gun to School

MIDLAND, TX-- Authorities have arrested a Midland Lee High School student after he brought a stolen gun to school on Thursday, according to CBS 7 in Midland.

A Crimestoppers tip lead authorities to 18-year-old Joseph Michael Bermea Jr., MISD said.

The arrest was promptly made after a district Police Officer was alerted to the tip and quickly located Bermea.

Midland Lee was not put on lockdown because authorities did not feel Bermea was a threat.

Bermea was booked in to the Midland County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen firearm and unlawfully carrying a weapon in prohibited places.
