SAPD and Texas DPS Partner to Apprehend Suspected Narcotics Trafficker

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — (SAPD Press Release) Pursuant to an ongoing SAPD Street Crimes Division investigation into narcotics distribution, investigators identified a suspected drug trafficker who was alleged to be transporting and distributing heroin in San Angelo and the surrounding area.

On the evening of February 20, 2018, Detectives discovered the suspect was likely traveling with a load of narcotics.  In a coordinated effort with our partners at the Texas Department of Public Safety, a traffic stop of the suspect’s vehicle was initiated in Ballinger, Texas; however, the suspect refused to stop and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. 

The pursuit ended and the suspect, identified as Jose Rivera, 54, of San Angelo, was taken into custody without incident.  During a vehicle search, Investigators located and seized a quantity of suspected heroin and methamphetamine. 

Rivera was charged with First Degree Felony Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and Felony 3 Possession Of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1.  Rivera was booked into the Runnels County Jail.
