Midland County Sheriff Says Bodies Found in Pit Were Shot in the Head

MIDLAND, TX -- Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said Friday that the two bodies found in a pit south of Midland died of gunshot wounds to the head.  

In a news release, Painter said preliminary autopsy results on both bodies show, “gunshot to the skull.  Painter said at this time, the “Manner of death on both skeletal remains is declared as homicide.”

The first set of remains were found on January 28 in an 18 acre site in the 5000 block of West County Road 116.  The second set of remains were found Feb. 3.  

Sheriff Painter says the remains may be linked to two missing teenagers from 2015.
