ABILENE, TX — A man was squashed by a vehicle and then dragged to his death, and the Taylor County Sheriff has arrested a Coleman County man who the Sheriff thinks did it.
According to the Sheriff, on Friday, hunters at a deer hunting lease on a ranch southeast of Abilene reported finding a dead man in the brush.
Taylor County Sheriff’s Deputies identified the dead man as Tony Lanar, 60, of Ovalo.
The injuries to the body were consistent with Lanar being driven over with a vehicle and then dragged across the tundra on the ranch while affixed to and towed by a vehicle.
The Sheriff didn’t stop there. His investigators found enough evidence to support probable cause that a Coleman County man had run over, dragged, and then killed Lanar intentionally. Sheriff’s investigators located Phillip Roberts Aldridge, 71, at his home in Coleman County.
He was interviewed at his home by investigators and as a result, arrested. The Sheriff charged Aldrige with First Degree Felony Murder. He was booked early this morning and is being held in the Taylor County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The Coleman County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.

PermalinkI should be Rolling in to San Angelo International Airport around December 16, for my Guided Polar Bear hunt. I hope to also bag an Arctic Fox or three. The Little woman has always wanted a negligee out of an Arctic Fox pelt. Wish me luck!
