Border Patrol Apprehends Illegal Immigrant Sex Offender

DEL RIO, TX – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Station arrested a convicted sex offender who had been previously deported.

Edwin Javier Aguilar-Paz, 37, an illegal alien from Honduras, was apprehended Sept. 19 by Border Patrol agents near Eagle Pass.  During processing, agents discovered that Aguilar-Paz was convicted of sexual assault in Miami-Dade, Florida, in July 1998 and was sentenced to 30 days confinement and 10 years probation.  He was deported to Honduras after completing his sentence.

Aguilar-Paz faces a charge of - 8 USC § 1326 - illegal re-entry after deportation, which carries a sentence of two years in prison.

“Del Rio Sector agents are dedicated public servants,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. “Preventing sexual predators from entering this country is another example of how their efforts benefit our community and county.”
