Police: K9 Thor Finds Man Suspected of Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend Hiding Under House

SAN ANGELO, TX — Just before 7:30 a.m. this morning, San Angelo police report they responded to a residence in the 300 block of North Jackson Street for the report of a domestic disturbance where 29-year-old Christopher Delacruz had forced entry inside the residence and assaulted his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend.

Delacruz, who had been previously criminally trespassed from the residence, fled the scene prior to police arrival.

WATCH:

At 12:15 p.m. this afternoon, San Angelo police were dispatched again, back to the residence after a family member of the victim located Delacruz inside.  Officers converged on the area and quickly surrounded the residence.

During a search of the residence, officers located evidence that Delacruz had accessed the crawl space beneath the residence.  San Angelo Police Department’s K-9 Team Sergeant Gesch and police service dog Thor responded to the scene and entered the crawl space.

Soon thereafter, Thor alerted officers to a secluded area in the northeast corner beneath the residence.  After the alert, detectives with the SAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division entered the crawl space and located Delacruz hiding behind insulation and other debris.

Delacruz was taken into custody without further incident.

Delacruz was charged with Burglary of Habitation with Intent to Commit Assault and outstanding warrants for Motion to Revoke-Probation Violation.  Delacruz was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident. He is currently in jail with a $45,000 bond required for his release.
