Prisoner Escapes the Tom Green County Jail

 

SAN ANGELO, TX —A prisoner escaped from the Tom Green County Jail Wednesday evening. San Angelo police and sheriff’s deputies set up a search perimeter behind the jail and are actively trying to locate the fugitive named Tyler Frank Corley.

The police activity downtown extends from behind the jail, up MLK Blvd. towards the Houston Harte Expy.

The fugitive Tyler Frank Corley  was captured at 8:22 p.m. near behind the Kendall Art Museum, according to our observation. He was quickly loaded into SAPD Suburban and whisked away back to the jail.

Update 10 p.m.

The fugitive's name was earlier relayed to us as being Nathan Storm. However, the Sheriff sets it straight. The fugitive's name is Tyler Frank Corley. During the confusion of the initial search, we received the wrong name.

On September 6, 2017, at 7:51 p.m., a Tom Green County correction officer observed through video surveillance a line of trustees being escorted back to the barracks.  An inmate bolted from the line of inmates being escorted, scaled a wall and was able to escape the jail perimeter.  A search of the area was immediately initiated by the San Angelo Police Department and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.  A perimeter was established in an effort to confine and apprehend the escapee.

At 8:22 p.m. a San Angelo Police Department canine alerted to a location a block north of the jail where the escapee, Tyler Frank Corley, was hidden.  Officers of the San Angelo Police Department and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Corley without incident and transported him back to the Tom Green County Jail. 

Corley will be charged with escape, a third degree felony. 

On August 15, 2017 Corley was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for the following offenses:               

  • Violation Of A Protective Order* Assault Causes Bodily injury Family Violence – Class A Misdemeanor        
  • Revoke P R Bond Theft of Property >$750<$2,500 – Class A Misdemeanor
  • Theft of Property >$2,500Theft of Property >$2,500
  • Motion to Revoke Fraud Use/Possession of Identifying Information – State Jail Felony
  • Motion to Revoke Forgery Financial Instrument State Jail Felony 

The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff David Jones would like to thank the San Angelo Police Department for their quick response and assistance in apprehending the escapee.
