SAN ANGELO, TX --This week, two San Angelo Police Department Street Crimes Detectives were sworn in as Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force Officers.
This achievement has been a lengthy endeavor, which came about as the result of their dedication and hard work assisting the DEA with several Federal level narcotics investigations over recent years.
Their new role as Task Force Officers facilitates ease in Federal prosecution, expands the Officer’s jurisdiction, and enables access to resources, which ultimately leads to the ability to more efficiently dismantle Drug Trafficking Organizations from distributing large quantities of Narcotics in San Angelo.
Established in 1973, the mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is to enforce the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States and bring to the criminal and civil justice system of the United States, or any other competent jurisdiction, those organizations and principal members of organizations, involved in the growing, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances appearing in or destined for illicit traffic in the United States; and to recommend and support non-enforcement programs aimed at reducing the availability of illicit controlled substances on the domestic and international markets.
These Detectives have over 30 years of combined law enforcement experience.
