BALLINGER, TX — A Ballinger mad is currently in custody and charged with the stabbing of his brother.
According to local police, Joshua Horton, 27, was arrested at the beginning of last week for the stabbing of a male in the 700 block of Broad Street.
Ballinger's Police Chief Stan Maresch reported that a call came through to law enforcement agents that Ballinger Memorial Hospital was treating a stabbing victim, later identified as Zachary Horton, 25.
Zachary Horton reportedly suffered from two stab wounds to the neck, one stab wound to the back, and one stab wound to the arm. He was released after receiving stitches.
“He was extremely lucky,” Maresch said. Mersch added, that once police arrived at the hospital, Zachary told police that his brother had stabbed him and told them to go to his house because he was worried for his mother's welfare.
As police entered Zachary's home, police found the weapon used to stab Zachary and blood splatter. Joshua Horton was found at the Broad Street resident and apprehended and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony and remained in custody Monday on a $50,000 bond.
